The food is the least predictable thing about this place. You can order the same dish but it never seems to be cooked or served the same way twice. One day it will be excellent, and another time the very same meal will be barely palatable.
As the only actual restaurant at this freeway exit (tho there is a Subway inside one of the gas stations) I guess they don't have to try very hard. The atmosphere is comfortable, in a well worn old truck stop kinda way, and the service is usually friendly.
We went here for Taco Tuesday. We've tried the food truck that usually parks across the street from this place in the past, but we weren't impressed with food out of a truck (surprising, right?), and we wanted to give this place a shot.
Shocking surprise. Wow, we weren't going to go in. It's true don't judge the book by the cover. I had the best breakfast burrito and my husband had the perfect omelette. Great food, zero ambience but who needs that when you just want a quick bite. Rosa was our server, she was fast, friendly and a great communicator.
I'm not sure if it's because multiple cooks on different shifts, or they just can't keep a good one. At least it is more often good than bad.
Considering the lack of options, if you're hungry at exit 94 and don't want Subway or convenience store food, you'll eat here. Chances are it'll be at least ok, and if you're lucky, it'll be great.
One of the few places I will ever give 5 stars to. It doesn't look like much but the food is awesome and Christina makes it 5 stars. Great place to watch sports and get some dinner. Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting Christina's 15 year old son Michael. What a pleasant young man that gives me hope for the future of this country. Thank you Christina and Michael for a great evening.
In short, it's worth a try if you haven't been there before, I'd say.
Cute little family restaurant, relaxed, friendly service. My wings were done perfectly. My husband had the best carne asada burro. It was huge, stuffed with all meat no fillers, he added some mild salsa...he raved about how good it was. Get impromptu stop for lunch.
The tacos were definitely the best we've had in town so far, though we still have to try Tin Top for tacos, if they have them.
If I'm being honest, the place is a bit of a dump, and the conditions in which our food was cooked is definitely suspect, but when we left the restaurant, we both looked at each other and said "I'd go back there".
Usually quiet, and rarely ever too busy to get a seat, but once in a while the bar can get loud enough to become a distraction in the dining room.
